The participants will learn the following: the nature of conflict; alternative dispute resolution (ADR) processes; negotiation theory and practice; intake and assisting prospective participants in making an informed process choice; an overview of screening; preparing the Family Mediation Agreement; opening the mediation; facilitating storytelling and agenda formation; debriefing and preparing Progress Reports; facilitating problem-solving; overcoming impasse; getting to agreement; preparing a Memorandum of Understanding or Mediation Report; continuing learning as a family mediator; professional development; and standards of practice.
